Duties
If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for investigative analysis in support of USAO'S Criminal Fraud Investigation Unit. Typical work assignments will include:
Plans and conducts investigative analysis of complex and multifaceted cases and legal matters of concern to the USAO.
Interprets and evaluates data and other information in varying sources including witness statements, electronic communication, quantitative data and business and bank records.
Uses electronic resources to collect, review and organize data, provides for its indexing, analysis, and retrieval and the effective presentation of documentary evidence, cost, reports and other data.
Receives general guidance from AUSAs assigned to specific cases and provides AUSA with recommendations to assist the investigation.
Analyzes data from a variety of sources, considering the impact, interrelationships and complex patterns.
Confirms the accuracy and authenticity of information and resolves issues of contradictory, missing or inconclusive data.
Conducts complex and multifaceted investigations and financial examinations to prepare for criminal prosecutions to analyze usual situations and participate in investigative activities with Federal, State and local officials.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
Requirements
- You must be a U.S. Citizen or National
- Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation
- You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable
- If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
- You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.
Qualifications
Specialized Experience: To be eligible for the GS-12 level, you must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 in Federal or Public service applying analytical and investigative principles, techniques, and procedures sufficient to develop and present approaches and investigative techniques to legal problems. Examples of specialized experience includes examining and analyzing records to synthesize results and present conclusions; interpreting and evaluating evidence from various sources and creating graphs, charts, and videos from data to assist fraud prosecutors and agents.
Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
