This position is located in the Department of Defense Office of Inspector General (DoD OIG). The incumbent of this position will work within the Office of the Deputy Inspector General for Investigations (DIG INV), Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS), Investigative Operations Directorate. This position may require the candidate to report occasionally report for work to an office in Chantilly, VA.

Duties

Monitors, coordinates, analyzes and evaluates activities using analytical tools, databases and investigative research. Reviews analytical and investigative case support to investigations and summarizes pertinent data. Maintains knowledge of laws of arrest, search and seizure and regulations, restrictions and policies. Maintains significant liaison relationships with other law enforcement agencies. Provides operational support and guidance to other programs within Investigative Operations.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Position has been designated as Special Sensitive; incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service (see http://www.sss.gov).
  • You may be required to complete a financial disclosure (OGE-450).
  • Incumbent is required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and is subject to random drug testing for the duration of service with DoD OIG.
  • Current DoD civilian employees are not required to submit to drug testing if moving from one Testing Designated Position (TDP) to another with no break in service, unless deemed appropriate on a case-by-case basis.
  • The incumbent must adhere to the DoD Standards of Conduct.

Qualifications

Time in Grade: For entry at the GS-13 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-12 or equivalent or higher grade, in the Federal Service. Specialized Experience for GS-13: You must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-12 level in the federal service or at an equivalent level, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as experience in Monitoring, coordinating, analyzing and evaluating complex and highly sensitive data from criminal investigations and operations. The specialize experience will demonstrate knowledge of analyzing and discerning complex critical data obtained from criminal investigations involving allegations of public corruption, product substitution, procurement fraud, terrorism, tech transfer, major theft, e-business, environmental, kickbacks, and healthcare. You must meet the minimum qualification requirements as stated in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions: http://www.opm.gov/qualifications/Standards/group-stds/gs-prof.asp. Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social) is qualifying. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience. Qualification and time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Applicants who have held a non-temporary General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must meet the time-in-grade restriction.
