About the Position: This is a Security Specialist, GS-0080-9 position with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Northwestern Division (NWD), Omaha District, Security and Law Enforcement Office.
Duties
Serve as the district Site Security Manager (SSM) for the DoD Command Access Card (CAC) program and the Secure Web Fingerprint Transmission (SWF).
Incumbent is involved in the internal administrative responsibilities, including clerical support for security programs.
Responsible for the site administration and security of the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System and the Real-time Automated Personnel Identification System to ensure it is operated within compliance of policies and procedures.
Perform a variety of routine security duties related to the safeguard of personnel, classified information and equipment.
Participate in inspections and surveys, evaluates findings, and makes recommendations for corrective action.
Determine the adequacy of current investigations and other data collected; evaluates the authenticity, veracity, and pertinence of data to the case at hand.
Support and/or establishes and conducts a comprehensive security education program for the organization.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 20% of the time.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a state issued driver’s license.
- Incumbent must obtain and maintain a SFPC certification.
- Incumbent must obtain and maintain AT Level II certification.
- Incumbent must obtain and maintain an OPSEC Level II certification.
- Incumbent must successfully complete the DOD Security Specialist Course within two years of entrance on duty (EOD).
- Incumbent must successfully complete the DEERS/RAPIDS Site Security Manager (SSM) Course and obtain certification within 90 days of entrance on duty (EOD).
- The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Non-Critical Sensitive with Secret access security clearance for the duration of employment in this position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Performing security administration for an entire site. AND 2) Determining the adequacy of current investigations and other data collected. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
