This vacancy is for a MATHEMATICAL STATISTICIAN-DIRECT HIRE AUTHORITY position in the Department of Commerce, located at the U.S. Census Bureau Headquarters in Suitland, Maryland.
This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill multiple MATHEMATICAL STATISTICIAN-DIRECT HIRE AUTHORITY, 1529, 14, FPL GS-14 positions within the Census Bureau in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.
Duties
Designs, plans, and implements production, research, and evaluation projects for surveys and/or census activities.
Provides leadership and management to meet the goals and objectives of statistical analysis, research, and evaluation projects and programs.
Provides guidance and advice for various methodological issues related to statistical processes such as record linkage, coding, coverage measurement, and quality control.
Composes and runs computer programs to perform production processes, analysis, research, and evaluation activities.

Qualifications
Minimum Education Requirement: Degree: You must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university OR a combination of education and experience equivalent to the completion of a bachelor's degree. Studies must have included at least 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, 12 of which must be in mathematics and 6 of which must be in statistics.
Transcripts MUST BE SUBMITTED. If the transcript is not submitted, the application will be rated as ineligible.
AND
Specialized Experience: For the GS-14, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes providing expert advice and consultation; planning, developing, evaluating and executing assignments which were of broad scope and marked complexity, significance and importance; applying a comprehensive knowledge of Mathematical Statistical methods and techniques; and consultation on a variety of problems involving the application of Mathematical Statistical methods.
Education: Education CAN NOT be substituted for experience.
