This vacancy is for the Senior-level (SL) position, Senior Advisor for Statistical Services Programs and Operations, located in the Office of the Deputy Director.
Duties
The Senior Advisor provides guidance and advice to the Deputy Director and the Executive Senior Advisor for Information Technology and Operations of the Census Bureau concerning significant issues of the most sensitive and critical nature and performs analysis of statistical methodologies and IT applications and systems with the greatest significance to the overall goals, mission and accomplishments of the Census Bureau. The incumbent utilizes in-depth knowledge and awareness of the statistical methodologies and information technology to advise the Executive Senior Advisor and significantly influences the direction of Census Bureau's statistical business applications. The incumbent will:
Support programs and policies through meetings with program personnel, high-level officials at other Federal agencies, the Government Accountability Office, the Office of the Inspector General, and key stakeholders, such as the National Academies of Sciences, in order to keep abreast of interests, needs, and concerns regarding the Census Bureau's programs.
Ensure the effective integration of mathematical statistical techniques and statistical standards in the Census Bureau's business ecosystem.
Oversee all mathematical-statistical aspects of the design and redesign of the IT applications for frame development, data ingest, processing, and dissemination to incorporate improvements and/or respond to major changes in program objectives.
Conduct complex ad-hoc studies of a highly confidential and sensitive nature concerning various aspects regarding systems and applications.
Qualifications

Education
A. Degree: that included 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, of which at least 12 semester hours were in mathematics and 6 semester hours were in statistics.
OR
B. Combination of education and experience -- at least 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, including at least 12 hours in mathematics and 6 hours in statistics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
