About the Position: Serves as the Senior Logistics Exercise Planning expert within the Plans and Exercise Division, USSOUTHCOM. As the senior logistics exercise planner, the incumbent develops, adapts, coordinates and implements logistic training programs and plans for the organization.

Duties

Responsible for planning, coordinating and directing all logistical actions in support of the development and execution of operational and strategic training events. Responsible for leading the logistics enterprise in offering recommendations to the Exercise Division Chief regarding training objectives, level of training audience participation, and the overall level of logistics play. Responsible for independently supervising and managing the logistics enterprise consisting of senior military (Field Grade Officers) and civilian personnel (GS-13 and above) while the enterprise plans and executes the projects.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state-issued driver's license.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a NTV/TMP driver's license.
  • This position has working conditions that require a pre-appointment physical with a favorable hiring recommendation.
  • Must be able to perform business related travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Must obtain and maintain an official passport and associated visa while assigned to a Federal civilian position in an area requiring a passport and associated visa, if authorized.

Specialized Experience: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, which includes experience in logistics planning including policy, strategic concepts, contingency plans, contingency exercise planning for strategic training events, operational plans, crisis action plans, and required capabilities oversight. Experience developing logistics plans and annexes for various plans and contingency operations, joint logistics studies, assessments, and other projects. Experience analyzing existing plans during exercises and use lessons learned to improve processes and logistical support. Experience conducting special logistical evaluations, studies, and analyses to identify problem areas and constraints associated with joint program support and recommending alternative corrective actions. Experience providing analytical capability to support the preparation of joint logistical objectives and guidance to research, monitor, analyze, and evaluate exercise strategy to ensure training incorporates real world logistical challenges and replicates existing conditions in theatre. Experience identifying and recommending and coordinating policies and solutions to surge and operational problems associated with providing logistical support throughout the Area of Responsibility. Experience in exercise planning to develop, adapt, coordinate and implement logistic training programs and plans to direct the efforts of other staff exercise planners, functional proponents, functional proponents, military subject matter experts, technical staffs, telecommunication specialists and private contractors for development and implementation of joint theatre and/or multi-national exercise plans. Experience providing necessary guidance to personnel conducting studies or analyses impacting on logistics. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
