The position is in the Pharmacy Service at Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center located in Milwaukee, WI. The incumbent will report to the Administrative Officer in the Administrative Staff Section. The primary purpose of the position is to provide clerical support to veterans.
Duties

Duties include but are limited to the following.
Provides direct and comprehensive telephone support for veteran patients who have prescription related logistical and availability issues and concerns.
Receives telephone calls from patients through the automated call distribution system. Answers inquiries related to process questions. Follows through to provider on CPRS as appropriate. Refers clinical and other judgmental questions to the supervising pharmacist as necessary.
Provides patient education via telephone on the medication refill process, the use of the automated telephone system, the use of the internet refill system and general information of pharmacy service.
Updates patient identification, address, telephone number, and reviews allergy information verification.
Opens and scans all refill documents mailed in by patients daily as required. Assures these are scanned the day they are received by the Pharmacy.
Assists patients with copayment issues, including cancelling copayments for inappropriate charges, referring patients to benefits management for eligibility issues, and assisting outpatient pharmacy supervisor with billing actions through local patient billing and national billing call center.
Schedules/coordinates once weekly drug representative meetings with administrative staff. Maintains the Drug Representative database and updates as required. Ensures Drug Representatives are registered and up to date in current Drug Representative tracking system.
Accurately prepares time and attendance data in a timely manner for Pharmacy Division. Ensures time and attendance data are prepared in accordance with established procedures and transmitted to payroll in a timely manner.
Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday - Friday 7:30am 4:00pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position at the GS-5 level, you must meet one of the following:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 1 full year of specialized experience that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the Program Support Assistant. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-4) in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes providing customer/patient administrative support, providing telephone support, scheduling, and coordinating meetings with administrative staff, receiving visitors and phone calls, preparing time and attendance, organizing and maintaining appointment schedules.

EDUCATION: Successfully completed four (4) years of education above the high school level in any field which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. Transcripts Required.

COMBINATION: Equivalent combination of successfully completed post-high school education (beyond the second year) and specialized experience as described above, which meet the total experience requirements for this grade level. Transcripts Required.

Physical Requirements: The majority of work is performed in an office setting with adequate light, heat, and ventilation. Typical office setting, subject to noise caused by multiple visits by staff, equipment, and telephone interruptions when performing various functions on a daily basis. Work is mostly sedentary, however does require standing, ambulation, bending, lifting of objects of less than 25 pounds, and pushing of carts.
