This position is in the Surgery Service Line in the Anesthesia Section Office which provides Anesthesia services to all surgical and non-surgical patients. The Anesthesia Service is a complex service comprised of physicians, nurse practitioners, nurse anesthetists, student nurse anesthetists, medical instrument technicians, residents and medical students.
Duties
The VA Midwest Health Care Network advocates for a Whole Health System of care in each of the Medical Centers. Duties of the position include, but not limited to:
Plans and evaluates the administrative and clinical functions impacting operations, quality improvement, organization policy related to the operations of the Anesthesia Service.
Responsible for compliance of staff educational and credentialing requirements.
Maintain employee records.
Oversees Anesthesia Service OR/NON-OR/Clinic schedule and consult list.
Gathers, Measures, and audits process improvement data.
Maintain calendar for manager, i.e. scheduling appointments.
Coordinates the documentation and records management program for the Anesthesia Service.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; 0800-1630

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: general clerical and administrative work including composing various forms of communications and/or reports utilizing microsoft office applications; collecting, compiling and tracking data and statistical information; maintaining office files and records; answering phones and greeting/troubleshooting customers.
Typing Proficiency: In addition to meeting Specialized Experience you must meet the typing proficiency: of 40 words per minute typing speed. Applicants may meet this requirement by presenting a certificate at the time of application of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates or by self-certifying their proficiency.
There is no educational substitution for the GS-06 level.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
