This position is located in the Office of the Director, NSF. The incumbent serves as a Special Assistant to the NSF Director and other senior leadership of the agency by providing technical expertise related to the Sexual Assault and Harassment Prevention and Response (SAHPR) Program.
This is a term position not to exceed four (4) years.
Duties
As a Special Assistant (SAHPR), you will perform the following duties:
Provides expert level analysis, evaluation, and advisory services to the Director and senior NSF Management on SAHPR programs, policies, issues.
Conducts studies to resolve especially difficult and complex agency-wide problems regarding sexual harassment and sexual assault that are unprecedented; and proposing solutions.
Conducts studies of the efficiency and effectiveness of NSF SAHPR programs, and recommends changes or improvements in organization, staffing, work methods, and/or policies.
Advises on resource needs to meet program requirements.
Supports senior leadership in the preparation of submissions, report writing/analysis, and program management and oversight.
Conceives, plans, and manages SAHPR initiatives for broad, emerging, or similarly critical large-scale agency program.
Provides options and courses of actions for the Director on unprecedented SAHPR issues.
Delivers expert advisory services to top agency management officials to provide approaches for integrating new and updated SAHPR programs within NSF operational and strategic objectives.
Advises on major SAHPR policy and programmatic issues arising with the potential to result in profound and fundamental changes in policies, programs, missions, and functions across the Foundation.
Qualifications
To qualify at the GS-15 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level providing strategic advice and oversight of the implementation of a Sexual Assault and Harassment Prevention and Response (SAHPR) Program for an organization. Qualified applicants will possess experience providing technical expertise and guidance regarding Sexual Assault and Harassment Prevention and Response strategies; evaluating existing SAHPR programs and processes; developing and/or updating complex agency-wide policies and initiatives regarding Sexual Assault and Harassment Prevention and Response; and directly consulting with senior leadership regarding the implementation of such complex programs.
Experience refers to paid/unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) & other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, & skills & can provide valuable training/experience that translates directly to paid work. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Education may enhance skills required for this position; however, no substitution of education for specialized experience may be made at this level.
