The Office of Inspector General (OIG), works within the U. S. Department of Transportation (DOT) to promote efficiency and effectiveness, and prevent or stop waste, fraud and abuse in departmental programs. We do this through audits and investigations. OIG also consults with the Congress about programs in progress and proposed new laws and regulations. The Inspector General Act of 1978, as amended, gives the Office of Inspector General autonomy to do its work without interference. 

Duties

You will work as a Program Director under the general supervision of the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) for Information Technology Audits. You will serve as an expert advisor to key management officials throughout DOT and OIG Audit Offices on information systems security matters. You will also serve as a subject matter expert in the areas of assigned audits (evaluations and reviews) involving  information technology programs, activities, and operations of the Department.

Qualifications

GS-15: To qualify you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the federal service including the following: Experience providing expert technical advice and guidance regarding IT security issues; expert experience/knowledge conducting audits and/or assessments of IT programs; expertise in developing and modifying project plans to meet needs and milestones; experience conducting interviews and briefings with senior officials; expertise in conducting comprehensive analysis and studies requiring the application of advanced analytical and statistical methods and techniques; and experience preparing and/or reviewing written products such as final reports. AND Experience Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate GS-5 through GS-15 (or equivalent): For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. *Certified Information System Auditor (CISA) certification preferred* Qualifications must be met by the closing date of the announcements.
