The GAO is part of the Legislative Branch of the Federal government. As such, all positions are in the excepted service. This position is located in the Human Capital Office. As an Executive Assistant you will be responsible for a variety of high-level administrative duties that support the day-to-day activities of the Chief Human Capital Officer and the Deputy Chief Human Capital Officer.
Duties
As aExecutive Assistant, AC-0318-3your typical work assignments may include the following:
Serves as a confidential assistant. Maintains records and knowledge of matters, activities and initiatives of a confidential and sensitive nature within the purview of the Chief Human Capital Officer (CHCO) and Deputy Chief Human Capital Officer (DCHCO) for HCO and safeguards and assures that such information in agency IT systems, calendared matters, draft documents, in-person and virtual communications, written records and private discussions are not revealed to unauthorized personnel.
Maintains calendar for the Chief Human Capital Officer and Deputy Chief Human Capital Officer, scheduling appointments based on knowledge of program operations and of the Chief and Deputy Chief Human Capital Officer and other staff's priorities. Assists with arranging meetings, contacting attendees, escorting visitors, notetaking for meetings, securing space and/or arranging for audio and video conferencing.
Manages and maintains databases to meet specific team needs. Determines data to be included, sources of data (either hard copy files or other automated systems) enter and analyzes data, ensures accuracy of data, and produces reports for Managing Director and others as needed.
Collaborates with others within and outside HCO to develop and implement new and innovative administrative support initiatives and tools that will facilitate and enhance efficiency and effectiveness of HCO's administrative operations.
Serves as the administrative expert and provides assistance to HCO's Leadership Team and staff on various GAO policies and telework and reservation systems.
Controls and maintains all office correspondence and electronic documents. Tracks correspondence in an automated system, routes correspondence to appropriate staff member and follows up to ensure proper actions are taken. Reviews outgoing correspondence for accuracy and completeness and adherence to GAO and office policies and guidelines.
Provides telephone and office coverage, referring calls and visitors based on knowledge of staff responsibilities.
Qualifications
You may qualify at the BAND III (GS-10/11 equivalent) level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:
Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower band level equivalent to the AC-II (GS-9) level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience making and coordinating travel arrangements, maintaining calendars and schedules, arranging and coordinating meetings, managing and maintaining databases, and providing telephone and office coverage.
