This position is part of the Security Management Division (BX), within National Archives and Records Administration. This position has agency-wide responsibility for physical, operations and holdings security; oversight of controlled-access information, physical accessibility, emergency planning, and workplace health and safety at NARA-occupied Presidential Libraries and Federal Records Centers and other NARA leased facilities.

Duties

As a Lead Security Specialist, you will: Recommend appropriate measures to correct any security deficiencies. Ensure implementation of multidisciplinary security policies and procedures. Communicate to the team the assignments, projects, milestones and deadlines and time frames for completion. Monitor security background check applications for contractors, volunteers, and all other non-federal employees.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. Specialized experience for the GS-13: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: - Developing proposals, briefings, or reports on security related issues; AND - Developing security policies, procedures, or priorities; AND - Experience performing security work involving the application of security programs and policies in order to safeguard personnel, facilities, materials, or documents; AND - Communicating with varying audiences, such as: senior staff members, subordinate staff, other stakeholders in reference to security related information. In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12level for 52 weeks.
