Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credentials are highly desired but not required.
Duties
Receive and review prescriptions for the full range of pharmaceuticals, to include controlled drugs on the formulary.
Determine type of substance, strength, dosage, and quantity to be dispensed.
Enter medication orders accurately into the appropriate computer system, in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and SOPs.
Ensure proper use, operation, and maintenance of pharmacy systems and equipment.
Enter or retrieve patient data from an automated healthcare system to support accurate treatment records.
Document pertinent information in electronic medical records according to standard procedures.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
- Position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year one year of experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes demonstrated experience utilizing various computer programs and database software for analyzing and importing data and creating charts/tables for reports and presentations; receiving and reviewing prescriptions, using knowledge of general principles of pharmaceutical practices and legal requirements; utilizing knowledge and understanding of common medications prescribed to treat diseases; and filling or processing prescriptions to include those for controlled substance medication.

Education: one full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the position, such as Pharmacology.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
