This position is assigned to the Medical Staff Office, which is under the Chief of Staff and is responsible for providing administrative and technical direction and support to the credentialing and privileging (C&P) operations.
Duties
Duties include and are not limited to:
Independently plans and carries out the assignments in conformance with accepted policies and practices
Assists the C&P Manager/Analyst in developing short - and long-term goals focused on the mission of the C&P program.
Assists in identifying the resources for accomplishing the mission and function of the credentials and privileging program.
Serves as SME in the field of credentials and clinical privileging.
Assists C&P Manager/Analyst in drafting local credentialing processes and Medical Staff Bylaws in compliance with all applicable regulations.
Determines which correspondence/communications require immediate attention and which are confidential in nature.
Research reference materials, regulations, and standards identifying necessary actions.
Ensures accurate data is entered into and maintained in VetPro computer program.
Manages provider applications and renewals.
Provides guidance and instruction on completing the documentation of establishing privileges for LIP. Verifies primary source verification.
Assures packages and other documents meeting technical requirements.
Provides oversight to application process.
Serves as technical advisor to the Executive committee of the Medical Staff and Credentials Committee.
Prepares agendas for credentials meeting, ensures those involved are notified of expectations, and ensures appropriated paperwork is accurate.
Conducts final appointment into the VetPro database.
Develops routine and special reports. Composes correspondence. Establishes and maintains files and records.
Maintains confidentiality of information.
Responsible for maintaining records, reconciling charge statement and legitimacy of request related to credit card responsibilities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level (GS-9) without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
To qualify for the GS-7 - You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience, equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-5) in Federal Service, that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of a Health System Specialist - Credentialing and Privileging Specialist at a developmental level, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled .
To qualify for the GS-9 - You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience, equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-7) in Federal Service, that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of a Health System Specialist - Credentialing and Privileging Specialist at the full performance level.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities related to announced position:
Ability to communicate orally, technical information to a diverse group of individuals with varying levels of understanding
Knowledge of the contacts required for verification of information in health care provider files
Knowledge of medical terminology, medical specialties and core privileges and procedures
Ability to communicate in writing to prepare emails, letters, reports and minutes

Qualifying specialized experience is defined as progressively responsible analytical or administrative, or clinical management or supervisory experience in the health care field. This work may have been performed in an operating health care facility or a higher organizational echelon with advisory or directional authority over such facilities. Work must have involved a close working relationship with facility managers and analysis and/or coordination of administrative, clinical, or other service activities.
Specialized Experience:
(for positions above GS-5): Progressively responsible analytical or administrative, or clinical management or supervisory experience in the health care field. This work may have been performed in an operating health care facility or a higher organizational echelon with advisory or directional authority over such facilities. Work must have involved a close working relationship with facility managers and analysis and/or coordination of administrative, clinical, or other service activities, and provided knowledge of the following:
Missions, organizations, programs, and requirements of health care delivery systems;
Regulations and standards of various regulatory and credentialing groups; and
Government-wide, agency, and facility systems and requirements in various administrative areas such as budget, personnel, and procurement.

Physical Requirements: The work is mostly sedentary. Occasionally, light physical effort may be required, such as walking, stair climbing and carrying of light office items. The work is performed in an office setting which require normal safety precautions typical for offices and meeting rooms.
