This position reports directly to the Chief, Engineering Sections within the Facility Management Service within the VA Detroit Medical Facility located in Detroit, MI.
Duties
***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION***
Duties include but may not be limited to:
Coordinate with a variety of service providers who perform work at the leased facilities.
Monitor and evaluates contractor performance.
Manage the work order system for all leased spaces to ensure maintenance is completed on a timely manner.
Assist with the day-to-day management of facility operations and building operating systems supporting leased facilities.
Develop written reports and presentations.
Develop plans to address emergency operations at leased facilities.
Performs computer work.
Certify invoices for contract facility support services.
Work Schedule: Fulltime; Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
Qualifications
You may qualify based on your experience/education as noted below:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
At least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS 9) in Federal Service that includes performing the following duties:
Evaluates, develops and recommends a course of action for coordination on decisions involving changes or alterations to facilities and utilization.; Identifies facilities issues and coordinates on matters relating to disposal, retention, or maintenance.; Reviews and certifies invoices for contract facility support for a variety of facility supportive vendors.; Provide reports, analysis, and recommendations to align with and positively impact future operations.; Conducts research on a variety of technical and administrative support topics.; Schedules, coordinates and performs the actual work when required for all Leased service requests.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED):
Successfully completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related

COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED):
Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate-level education (beyond 18 semester hours) and specialized experience, as described above, which meet the total experience requirements for this grade level. The education portion must include graduate courses directly related to the work of this position.

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Physical Requirements:
Work is performed indoors in an office environment. There is considerable walking and climbing ladders and stairs to conduct investigative analysis on condition of facility equipment. Incumbent will regularly receive, store, and ship items up to 40lbs. Incumbent is expected to use hand tools and office equipment to maintain the facilities.
