The position is located with the CPAC, organizationally aligned under the Chief Finance Officer in the Veteran Services Department, with the position serving as a Program Support Assistant (PSA). The CPAC is a regionally consolidated business entity established to increase revenue operations throughout the VHA network.

Duties
Makes determinations as to the correct course of remedy and eligibility for copayment charge adjustments, and performs corresponding accounting adjustments.
Processes and validates first party refunds, and validates the demographic information of the customer to ensure the receipt of any resulting refund.
Ensures that all pertinent information is gathered and entered into automated systems in a timely and accurate manner.
Responsible for all aspects of the billing level adjustment, remedy and correction actions, and overall resolution of 1st party co-payment debt..
Communicates and treats customers, representatives, stakeholders, visitors, and all staff in a professional, courteous, tactful, and respectful manner.
Work Schedule: Monday -Friday 40 hrs./wk. Tour of Duty set based on organizational need

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes:
1) Conducts follow-up contact with customers through telephonic, electronic or written media to ensure all services provided were proficiently provided and appropriate.
2) Completes adjustments to co-payment accounts as needed to resolve requests for debt relief and assistance.
3) Provides guidance and recommendations to customers on related options available for remedy relief.
4) Makes determinations as to the correct course of remedy and eligibility for co-payment charge adjustments.
5) Documents and completes an electronic record explaining all actions performed.
There is no educational substitution for the GS-06 level.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
