This position is located in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO), Financial Processing & Operations. The incumbent provides professional and technical accounting services in support of FMCSA.

Qualifications

To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet the specialized experience qualifications for the grade.To qualify for the Grade 13, you must have at least one year of experience equal or equivalent to the GS-12, it must include: Experience independently preparing, reviewing, analyzing, and auditing financial statements including recommending the resolution of accounting reporting issues. Experience providing expert technical advice and counsel on financial data from financial reports to internal and external customers. Experience providing advice on accounting standards in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Accountability - Holds self and others accountable for measurable high-quality, timely, and cost-effective results. Determines objectives, sets priorities, and delegates work. Accepts responsibility for mistakes. Complies with established control systems and rules. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Principles of Accounting - Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, standards, and practices (for example, double entry accounting, accrual accounting), including the full accounting cycle and the preparation of work sheets, financial statements, ledgers, and journals. Budget Administration - Knowledge of the principles and practices of budget administration and analysis; including preparing, justifying, reporting on, and executing the budget; and the relationships among program, budget, accounting, and reporting systems. Customer Service - Anticipates and meets the needs of both internal and external customers. Delivers high-quality products and services; is committed to continuous improvement.
