You will serve as a WELDER in the PRODUCT FAMILIES DEPT of SOUTHWEST REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CENTER.

Duties

You will perform X-ray quality multiply pass welds with: Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SWAW), and Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) or Gas Metal Arc Welding (Pulse) (GWAW-P). You will interpret welding symbols and welding details off production plans where all dimensions are given.or Gas Metal Arc Welding (Pulse) (GWAW-P). You will set up and operate preheat and stress relieving equipment, inert gas purges, portable grinding and finishing equipment. You will work with argon, helium, oxygen, acetylene, propane, and flux to make welds that require full penetration even when welding in hard to reach places. You will place barriers or flash shields, around work to protect others, using proper ventilation to assure the working area is safe for entry and/or hot work by inspecting both near and far sides of the structure.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
