If you enjoy data analytics, visualization, and evidence-based decision making, then the Office of Planning, Policy, and Analysis (OPPA) has an exciting opportunity for you. We are recruiting for a data management and visualization expert to join our Research and Analysis Unit, which consists of statisticians and data scientists who apply a variety of complex statistical, data visualization, data warehousing, and predictive modeling approaches using criminal justice data.
Duties
As a Information Technology Specialist (Data Management and Visualization), you will:
1. Serve as an expert in establishing, maintaining, supporting, and upgrading databases and the Agency's data warehouse (or data mart), its associated architecture and environment.
2. Perform Extraction Translation and Load (ETL) process and cube design, set-up, maintenance, integration, and operation. Perform complex design and development participating in all phases of data warehouse components and assuring compliance with technical standards.
3. Design and administer state-of-the-art prototype and production data warehouse information. Perform physical data modeling, creation, normalization, loading, performance tuning, monitoring of the databases, and data visualization.
4. Define data flow; identify and translate user requirements into data design; design drill-down analyses for decision support. Build and maintain data dictionaries. Administer data standards, policies, and procedures.
5. Provide daily oversight of the data warehouse including establishing and managing end-user accounts, privileges, and resources, and assurance of security and data integrity.
6. Formulate and apply the full range of complex queries to retrieve precise data, create tables and indexes and enhance application performance. Develop and implement daily maintenance procedures including backup and restore procedures for the data warehouse. Identify and correct problems.
7. Perform special studies and projects utilizing Agency data. May serve as team leader or a member of teams across the Agency to study, design or implement new requests for data.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must possess IT related experience in each of the required competencies And meet the specialized experience requirement listed below.

AND
Specialized Experience: To qualify for the GS-14 grade level, you must possess one year of specialized experience related to the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as extensive experience creating complex, efficient SQL queries to fulfill ad hoc reporting requests within established deadlines.
