About the Position: This position may be filled as a temporary promotion or temporary reassignment NTE 1 year by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary promotions or reassignments may be extended up to a maximum of 5 years. Position may be made permanent without further competition. This position is for C4ISR Directorate, Tobyhanna Army Depot, Tobyhanna, PA.

Duties

Work with engineering to verify specifications of electronic equipment. Assist lower-grade mechanics on system peculiarities and potential problem areas. Establish test setups and test procedures. Troubleshoot highly complex electronic equipment. Provide additional assistance on equipment with unusual problems.

Requirements

• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain the Associate Level and Journeyman level CET certification per Electronics Technicians Association, International, within two (2) years of placement into the position.
• Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
• This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
• This position requires shift work and overtime to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
• Successfully complete and pass a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

I can install a variety of major components and related devices of complex electronics equipment. I also provide technical assistance and advice to individuals or groups of lower level workers. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Working Conditions: Works inside well-lighted, heated, and ventilated shop area and in outside work areas, usually in good weather conditions. Exposed to possibility of various burns caused by electrical shock, RF energy, hot components, and to microwave radiation. Subject to cuts, bruises, and scrapes from handling equipment. Travels as senior mechanic to repair and/or install equipment systems serviced.
