The Selectee will work shift 1st.

Duties
Repairs and keeps in proper working order heating systems including unit heater, fan coil units, control valves, radiators, automatic control valves, steam traps, pumps and other appurtenances for heating and cooling buildings.
Installs, repairs, and maintains all steam stations, piping and associated apparatus for heating, air, liquids, and saturated steam pressures from 0 to 250 pounds.
Uses gas, acetylene and electric welding equipment on various types and sizes of pipes, flanges, fittings, etc. Must be capable of performing satisfactory welds on high-pressure steam pipe.
Modifies, repairs and installs new and existing utility supply and disposal systems and equipment such as sewage, water, oil, air and gas distribution systems, water closets, tubs, showers and sludge systems.
Inspects, installs and makes repairs to sprinkler system and fire standpipe systems.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is Required.
- Selectee must pass a drug test prior to appointment.
- Males born after 12/03/59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Selectee may be required to serve a one year probationary period
- Selectee must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.
- Confidential Financial Disclosure report may be required.
Qualifications
To qualify for the Pipefitter, KP-4204-00 must meet the following requirements:
1, The applicant must have knowledge of the operation, installation, and modification of high-pressure piping systems and equipment such as steam heating, steam generation and vacuum systems, radiators and circulating pumps. Knowledge and skill to plan and lay out the installation, modification and repair of new and existing piping systems and equipment.
2. The applicant must have skills in using gas, acetylene and electric welding equipment on various types and sizes of pipes, flanges, fittings, etc. Must be capable of performing satisfactory welds on high-pressure steam pipe.
3. The applicant must have skills in heating systems including unit heater, fan coil units, control valves, radiators, automatic control valves, steam traps, pumps, ejectors, receivers, modulator valves and other appurtenances for heating and cooling buildings.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education
Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.
