About the Position Independently performs a wide variety of complex procedural and substantive duties, prepares various statistical reports on assigned and attached personnel for the local commander, major commands, and HQDA. Prepares required background materials for briefings such as charts and diagrams. Personally, prepares special rosters with supporting data as required. Monitors utilization of personnel and maintains Unit Manning Reports (UMR).
Duties
Reviews and analyzes various reports, statements, and requests concerning officer and enlisted personnel assignments and other administrative matters; develops staff papers, reports, decisions and actions.
Retrieve data from various information sources, both manual and electronic databases.
Drafts correspondence identifying discrepancies/shortfalls and requests/initiates corrective action through the personnel requisition system.
Furnishes information and technical advice to subordinate units on Unit Status report questions.
Coordinate and assist in managing all activities involving Officer Strength Management issues.
Manage the Officer Management database with links to various Integrated Personnel and Pay System (IPPS-A)
Maintain the field grade officer slate for the installation.
Requirements

- This position requires business travel/TDY up to 5% of the time.
- This position requires the services of a fully qualified typist.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes analysis of data to support conclusion or recommendations for military personnel actions; reporting projected gains and losses in military personnel; applying human resources regulations, standards, and policies for reports and processing of actions for military personnel. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Human Resources Management.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
