About the Position: Performs a variety of tasks associated with the preparation of simple foods, serving prepared foods and beverages and cleaning food service trays, pans, dishes and work areas. This position is located at Womack Army Medical Center, Fort Liberty, NC. Food Service Workers will work a variety of shifts. The primary schedule will be 5 days on with 2 consecutive days off, from the hours of 0600-1830, on a weekly rotating basis. Weekend work will be included in shift rotation.

Duties

Prepare hot and cold food serving stations for cafeteria style service. Stock juices, beverages, utensils, and quick service food carts when replenishment is needed. Clean dishes, pots, pans, and utensils manually or by use of dishwashing equipment. Operate a cash register for dining food and beverage sales.

Requirements

• This position requires the incumbent to complete a hepatitis screening.
• This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
• This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
• This position has been designated Weather Essential. In the event of inclement weather conditions, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
• Incumbent is subject to shift assignments on a 2 shifts per day, 7 days a week schedule on a weekly rotating basis.
• Employee is required to wear protective shoes and other equipment for safety purposes.
• Must be able to obtain/maintain a Food Handler's Certification.
• This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.

I am skilled in meal assembly tasks such as chopping and cutting fruits and vegetables into individual portions; packaging hot and cold foods such as soups, salads, and sandwiches for distribution to diners; cleaning and sanitizing food preparation and dining areas; establishing portion requirements to preserve supplies; monitoring food and supply inventory operations for a kitchen. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed predominantly in noisy kitchen and dining room areas. Incumbent is subject to injuries from equipment used and is exposed to dirt, cleaning chemicals, grease and water in cleaning tasks. Incumbent is subject to extremes in temperatures when bringing supplies from walk-in refrigerators. Wears safety shoes and other protective items as required.
