This position is located in Safety and Technical Training, Technical Training Directorate, Technical Operations Training Group. This Group is responsible for providing technical training programs that meet requirements set by the Technical Operations Service Unit.
Duties
As Team Manager, he/she applies detailed technical knowledge of aviation communication and navigation equipment as well as airport traffic systems to direct a subordinate staff of senior Airway Transportation Systems Specialists in the prioritizing of NAS services with Air Traffic, commercial airlines and general aviation aircraft. Overseas staff in the analyzing and evaluating of the most complex aviation equipment and systems for which the FAA is responsible to develop new or modified training initiatives and coursework for the Technical Operations field workforce This is a major national program that is critical to the continued maintenance and operations of the National Airspace System (NAS).
Requirements
- US Citizenship is required.
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

Qualifications
Candidates must have one year (52 weeks) of SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (FV-J or FG/GS-14) that is typically related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been at least equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as: Experience installing and maintaining National Airspace System (NAS) equipment to determine the need to revise or to develop new courses.Experience with NAS communication, navigation, automation, environmental, power, weather, and surveillance equipment and systems to analyze and evaluate NAS change proposals for impacts to training courses.You should include relevant examples of the specialized experience in your work history.
