You will serve as a COMPUTER SCIENTIST at the Naval Oceanographic Office (NAVOCEANO) located Bay St Louis, MS at the NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.
Duties
You will coordinate, develop, and lead a variety of projects that are in direct support of unmanned systems and Division functions.
You will conceptualize, develop, implement and document new technologies, capabilities, or enhancements to unmanned oceanographic operation, processing, and integration of new capabilities.
You will function as a technical point of contact for contractual activities.
You will prepare technical and project planning documents and analysis in support of the transitioning emerging technologies and capabilities into the operational environment.
You will be planning and developing Software systems using knowledge of techniques, procedures, and processes such as operating system theory, data structure, computer system architecture, software engineering and computer communications.
You will develop and conduct test of new hardware and software technologies that are developed or delivered and integrated into the division.
You will develop, plan and implement procedures to assimilate different types of data into integrated products, especially NAVOCEANO oceanographic data processing.
You will coordinate and liaison with other NAVOCEANO codes for the retrieval of data and products required for operational testing and validation.
You will serve as a Branch representative on scientific and technical panels.
You will participate in interdepartmental and intra-Command meeting and committees to resolve common and/or emerging problems/issues.
You will Interface with internal and external civilian and military personnel of all ranks in order to carry out responsibilities.
Requirements

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience and knowledge of the concepts, theories, principles, and practices dealing with computer science in an operational environment.
Experience and knowledge in computer science dealing with oceanographic software applications.
Experience and knowledge in the processing of large amounts of complex data by computer.
Experience interfacing with internal and external representatives in support of computer systems and operational requirements.
Experience managing and/or coordinate both small and large software projects.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess
Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
