OIG is organized into seven operational units: the Immediate Office of the Inspector General, Office of the Counselor, Office of Audits and Evaluations, Office of Healthcare Inspections, Office of Investigations, Office of Management and Administration, and Office of Special Reviews. In addition to the Washington, DC, headquarters, OIG has offices located in more than 60 locations throughout the country.
Duties
As a Physical Security Specialist, you will:
Plan and direct comprehensive physical security projects for offices across the country, coordinating with a facilities design team, and assigns the work of contractor support staff.
Direct work related to long and short-term planning and achieving the mission of the Physical Security and Emergency Management program goals.
Plan, organize, and direct studies to develop long range studies and forecasts, and recommends methods for enhancing efficiency of security systems through modifications and applications of evolving technology.
Develop and present training in a variety of security topics. Provide security advice and/or assistance to senior level managers, other security staffs and local governments, as required.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized experience for the GS-13 is one year of experience at the GS-12 level, or equivalent, that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position which includes:
- Managing the physical protection of government or contractor personnel, installations, facilities, information, operations, and related assets; AND
- Acquiring innovative security equipment to guard against unauthorized access, identify suspicious activities, and ensure continuity of operations; AND
- Developing and implementing Antiterrorism and Force Protection programs.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks.
Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a nontemporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
