You will serve as a Computer Scientist in the Software Management Branch of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.
Duties
You will responsible for performing system administration task to manage and maintain the information Technology environment supported by the N64 Division
You will consult on network, application and customer service issues to support computer system security and sustainability.
You will assist with monitoring and verifying contract deliverables.
You will develop and maintain scripts on Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems for data file transfers, system monitoring, and other system administration tasks.
You will install and configure commercial software on Window servers and Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers.
You will recommend and develop techniques to improve organizational efficiencies and provide innovative and creative solutions that help the organization accomplish its mission.

- This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 451 level Intermediate I within 12 months of appointment.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Cyber IT/CSWF Qualification Matrix (described in SECNAV M-5239.2) associated with the specialty area and level with the scope of major assigned duties for the position which you are assigned.
- You will participate in a continuous learning program as described in SECNAVINST 1543.2.
- You will participate in a minimum of 40 hours of Cyber IT/CSWF related continuous learning annually documented in a current individual development plan signed by both the employee and supervisor.
Qualifications
For GS-11 - In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- Experience working within various systems / software administration tasks as it relates to installing, patching, configuring, integrating, testing and the monitoring of Java web applications, web server technologies, and relational database management systems (RDBMS) on Linux operating systems.
- Experience maintaining cybersecurity compliance of all supported environments according to the organization guidelines and requirements.
- Experience evaluating and implementing compliance strategies for information assurance vulnerabilities (IAVs), and monitoring system to ensure operational availability.
- Experience utilizing configuration management and system integration.

Education
Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
