This position is located within the radiology/imaging department at the VA Medical Center in Orlando Florida. The Radiology Supervisor is under the supervisory control of the Orlando Radiology Service Chief Technologist. The incumbent will oversee the General Radiology imaging service at the Lake Nona Medical Center. He/she may be required to supervise other clinical sections as requested by the Chief of Radiology or Chief Technologist.

Duties

The Supervisory Radiologic Technologist will interact frequently with administration, physicians, technologists, nurses, and other clinical and administrative staff .He/she is expected to support clinic objectives and goals (productivity, safety, patient satisfaction, cost control, etc.). This collaboration includes but is not limited to: participation in department meetings, committees, and workgroups as requested by the Chief Technologist. The incumbent assures optimum patient safety throughout the patient's time in Radiology and is primarily responsible for Quality Control (QC) and professional conduct, as well as work productivity of the staff under their supervision. The individual will receive work assignments as determined by the Chief Technologist or Service Chief for Radiology Services. The Supervisory Radiologic Technologist is responsible for the following duties but not limited to: Managing all Radiology Scheduling for patient exams within their assigned area, monitoring VistA reports regarding pending exams, and reconciliation and/or cancellation of incomplete or outdated imaging requests. Preparing Capital Investment Proposals by gathering and providing data to the Chief Technologist and Imaging Program Administrator. Supporting the Radiation Safety Program. Maintaining and coordinating repairs of all Medical Imaging/Non-Imaging equipment. Performing Annual Performance Appraisals for al assigned staff members. Verifying and authorizing employee timecards and overtime requests. Developing tours of duty and shift assignments, including all leave requests, FMLA, and Workman's Comp for all assigned staff members. Reviewing diagnostic radiographic studies for accuracy, completeness and technical quality. Previous leadership and/or supervisory experience is preferred, but not required. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm Telework: Ad-hoc may be available at managers discretion. Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Qualifications

Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Basic Requirements: Citizenship: Citizen of the United States. (Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified candidates in accordance with chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3g, this part.) Certification: All applicants must be certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) (R). Education: Completion of a full-time training course of at least 24 months duration (or the equivalent) in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certificate or an associate's degree, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or from schools accredited by the ARRT and certification by the ARRT in radiology. Credentialing Standards. Public Law 97-35, the Consumer-Patient Radiation Health and Safety Act of 1981, requires that persons who administer radiologic procedures meet the credentialing standards in 42 CFR Part 75, Standards for the Accreditation of Educational Programs and the Credentialing of Radiographic Personnel. Essentially, they must have successfully completed an educational program that meets or exceeds the standards described in that regulation, and is accredited by an organization recognized by the Department of Education, and be certified as radiographers in their field. Loss of Credential. An employee in this occupation who fails to obtain certification within two years, or who fails to maintain the required certification must be removed from the occupation, which may also result in termination of employment. English Language Proficiency. DRTs must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), and 7407(d). GRADE REQUIREMENTS: GS-10 Grade Determinations: Experience. At least 1 year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-9 ),directly related to the position being filled that demonstrates the clinical competencies described at that level. Experience at that level includes but not limited to: varying assignments including special and complex imaging procedures beyond the full performance level, clinical instruction, basic QM type duties; providing input on performance, resolving daily workplace issues, and maintaining efficient workflow; assigning and evaluating the work of subordinate staff; resolving complex problems to ensure patient services are met; evaluating new products, equipment, assigning and evaluating the work of subordinate staff; resolving complex problems to ensure patient services are met; evaluating new products, and equipment. The candidate must demonstrate the following technical KSAs and demonstrate the potential to acquire the assignment-specific KSAs designated by an asterisk (*): *Ability to analyze organizational, technical, and administrative problems and to develop and implement solutions that result in efficient section operation. Ability to evaluate quality management procedures and processes. *Ability to analyze and use data effectively to manage workload, quality, performance, and productivity. *Skill in developing new policies and guidelines as needed. Skill in problem solving and conflict resolution. Preferred Experience: Previous or current leadership experience within the field (General Radiology), and recent relevant clinical experience (General Radiology).
