The primary purpose of this position, ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC WG-2610-13, is to install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, program, calibrate, and rebuild complete integrated multi-system complexes consisting of several individually networked electronic subsystems where the system accomplishes a number of major functions.

Duties

Install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, program, calibrate, rebuild and perform preventive maintenance on complete integrated multi-systems and other complex functions performed by numerous systems which are extensively interconnected so that their combined functions accomplish a specific objective and comprise a complete integrated system. Set up and operate software controlled automated test stations to run established and new diagnostic programs in various test modes to test and troubleshoot multi-system complexes. Use and maintain hand and power tools, precision measurement tools and test equipment. Utilize safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment. Maintain inspection and maintenance records.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-2600 Electronic Equipment Installation And Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Effort: Work assignments require moderate physical effort. Mechanics frequently lift, carry, or otherwise handle items weighing 25 pounds and over with assistance. They work in a sitting position for extended periods. Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching. reaching, and stooping is required. Occasionally, climbing and working in high places may be required. Working Conditions: Work is usually performed inside in well lighted, heated, and ventilated areas. When equipment is fixed in place it is sometimes necessary to work in warehouse or industrial areas exposed to loud noises, heat or cold, fumes, etc. Mechanics are subject to injuries, such as electric shock, cuts and bruises, as well as burns caused by electrical energy or soldering irons. The mechanic may be required to work in cramped positions or in close proximity to energized or operating machinery.
