About the Position:
This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.
This position is located at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii within the Telemetry Unit.
Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.
Federal employees in Hawaii are currently entitled to receive a 9.28% COLA rate Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) in addition to the base salary. This is subject to change. A locality rate of 21.17% has been authorized for Hawaii.
Duties
Observe, gather, initiate, compile and record telemetry data.
Report changes and information on monitored patients to the nurse(s) caring for patient.
Take Telemetry strips of all patients on monitors, mounts them, and analyzes the strips according to protocol.
Monitor and document all pertinent information during a cardiac arrest and reports all changes to patient's nurse.
File reports in accordance with established procedures.
Assesse all telemetry equipment at the beginning of the shift for malfunction, alarm settings, and accountability of all telemetry transmitters on Ward.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- This position may require the incumbent to work during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes observing, gathering and/or initiating telemetry data, assessing all telemetry equipment during a shift, and reporting the status of patients to necessary personnel. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with a major field of study appropriate to the specialization of the position, such as biology, anatomy, physiology, chemistry, medical technology, or physics OR (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in courses such as biology, anatomy, physiology, chemistry, medical technology, or physics. Of the 24 semester hours, at least 12 must have been in a field directly related to the specialization of the position as identified in (a).

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
