About the Position: This position serves as a Medical Support Assistant (Office Automation) at Martin Army Community Hospital, Fort Moore, GA. This position is responsible for performing a full range of receptionist, recordkeeping, and miscellaneous clerical duties within an ambulatory setting.

Duties
Maintain all patients' records, both electronic and paper, according to regulation ensuring each entry contains proper patient and health care provider identification.
Enter, manipulate, and retrieve information and data from automated systems.
Utilize office automation software applications such to compile various reports and documents.
Respond to emergency calls and notifies emergency medical personnel.
Coordinate and/or schedules patient appointments with other clinics or specialties.
Input medical information to complete patient orders/records.
Receive patients and visitors as the initial point of contact, in person or telephonically.
Schedule appointments using an appointing software program; Receive patients in the front reception area of clinic.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- May be required to work overtime, weekends, holidays and evenings.
- This position may be a weather or mission essential position.
- Qualified typist is required.
- This position may require occasional temporary duty travel - 5%.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing clerical and/or receptionist duties; and experience in receiving patients in person for check-in or telephonically; and experience scheduling medical appointments; and experience in entering patient data into an Electronic Health Record (EHR) or other automated system. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/ level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Education must have been obtained from an accredited program recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
