As the Civil Division Assistant Chief Information Officer for Service Delivery, you will provide authoritative direction and oversight of service for the Civil Division and oversee the OIT staff that provides leadership to major IT systems. The sections under the position's leadership provide IT services for over 3,000 internal customers and over 10,000 outside parties.
Duties
The duties and responsibilities for a 2210 Supervisory IT Specialist generally include, but are not limited to, the following:
Evaluating and recommending the adoption of new or enhanced approaches to delivering IT services to the Civil Division, which includes the application of new and innovative customer support methods and technologies; new IT developments and applications; and emerging technologies and their applications to business processes.
Establishing a Department-wide information technology vision and directing the development of a set of standards
that define what technologies and products are approved for use within the organization.
Interpreting and applying government-wide and industry best practices for customer support and service delivery.
Maintaining currency in emerging technologies critical to the evolution of the agency enterprise architecture with more efficient and effective standards, infrastructure, and applications.
Serving on working groups to overhaul IT services throughout the Department.
Establishing guidelines and performance expectations for assigned employees and contractors. Providing formal and informal feedback to employees. Resolving informal complaints and grievances.
Providing expert technical advice in the monitoring and evaluation of contractor activities on contracts covering agency-wide systems. Directing, coordinating, and approving detailed planning designs, development, programming, testing, documentation, training and implementation of IT systems using outside vendors and/or contractors.
Requirements
- You must be a United States Citizen or National.
- You must successfully pass a security/background investigation to inlcude drug testing.
- May require completion of one year inital probationary period.
- You must meet all applicable time-in-grade requirements by the closing of this announcement.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a final Top Secret Clearance. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in withdrawal of the job offer or removal.
- May require completion of one year supervisory probationary period if you have not already completed one.
- Selective Service registration is required for males born on, or after, December 31st 1959. Those not registered should have an approved exemption on file.
Qualifications
To qualify for the position of Supervisory IT Specialist, (GS-2210-15), you must you must demonstrate that you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level in the federal service performing such duties as: providing oversight and direction for the delivery of IT services, overseeing other's work, serving as a COTR in monitoring vendor/contractor performance, and developing comprehensive programs to improve productivity, cost effectiveness, and efficiency of organizational activities.
If you are a current federal employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade.
