About the Position: This position is located at the Department of Defense Education Activity Virtual School, Quantico, Virginia. Description of the Working Environment: Work is performed in an office setting.

Duties

Develop goals and standards to include those that support the DoDEA Community Strategic Plan. Develop reports, filters or queries, etc., and retrieve and present data. Assess the system wide effectiveness in the defined program area(s) by monitoring the implementation of curriculum/performance standards. Utilize student information application software systems that support the collection, maintenance and reporting of K-12 school and district educational management data. Train administrators, teachers, specialists and other educators in the use of the student information systems and provides information to the District Superintendents regarding program needs, status, and recommendations for improvements. Prioritize all District student information services projects in collaboration with Headquarters Information Technology Student Information Systems personnel to include both short and long-term timelines.

  • You will be required to sign a mobility agreement, be available for worldwide placement, and be willing to rotate to any DoDDS or DDESS location.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: U.S. Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Minimum Education Requirement: A Master's degree in the field of Education. The course work must have been completed at or accepted by a regionally accredited U.S. college or university. The undergraduate/graduate course work must have included study in at least three of the following five areas: Learning theory, psychology of learning, educational psychology: Study of learning theories as they relate to the systematic design, development, and validation of instructional material. Instructional design practices: Study of the principles and techniques used in designing training programs, developing design strategy and models, and applying design methods to the improvement of instructional effectiveness. Educational evaluation: Study of the techniques for evaluating the effectiveness of instructional/educational programs, including developing written and performance tests and survey instruments, and determining reliability and validity of evaluation instruments. Instructional product development: Study of the techniques appropriate for developing training materials, including identifying learner characteristics, specifying objectives, applying training strategy, validating training materials, and evaluating training. Computers in education and training: Study of the application of computers in education and training. Specialized Experience (5 years combined): Specialized experience includes experience gained in teaching, educational research, development of educational materials and aids, educational testing, educational administration, or comparable activities in an elementary and/or secondary school, which has clearly demonstrated success in the application of principles, methods, and techniques of education and familiarity with current developments in PreK-12th grade education and training. This position requires a minimum of 2 years of specialized experience working with Student Information Systems (SIS). Examples of acceptable specialized SIS experience include: Experience in collecting, managing, extracting and analyzing data for the support and evaluation of school education programs experience developing reports, filters, queries, etc. and retrieving and presenting data from data management systems experience working cooperatively with others by serving as the subject matter expert for all SIS program modules and other management information systems experience training and supporting educational managers, teachers, etc. in the use of data management systems, including registration, scheduling, attendance, and grading systems. I also have at least 3 years specialized experience as an Educational Technologist at the district or above school level. Professional Licensure/Certification Requirement: Must either be certified or certifiable under the current DoDEA standards in any PK-12 endorsement area.
