The position is located in the Whiteriver Service Unit (WRSU) Outpatient Department and provides clerical support which includes but is not limited to patient phone calls, scheduling, oversite of telepsych visits/equipment, records maintenance, and a variety of other clerical duties associated with psychiatric ambulatory care. Work is performed under the supervision of the Outpatient Director in coordination with the Psychiatric team.

Duties

Screen telephone calls and reviews pertinent patient registration information, along with variety of matters including the availability of, and procedures for obtaining psychiatric services, assistance, and making or changing schedule appointments based on guidelines provided. Reviews Resources Patient Management System (RPMS) for benefit eligibility for patients seeking health care. Obtains sufficient information necessary to determine primary need or area of interest and directs patients accordingly. Assist with patient navigation to services at WRSU and various tribal behavioral health services or community partners. Provides case management, care coordination support services in partnership with the clinical team by scheduling appointments, referrals and community resource needs. Maintains a variety of sensitive information; registers, records, and reports in order to provide statistics and information for patient care planning and other purposes to include; maintaining patient lists, notifies patients, assist with preparing reports, assist with maintaining equipment, types and reproduces special notices, typing minutes, prepares requisitions and enters and extracts data into the RPMs system, iCARE, VGEN, PGEN, or QMAN.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: For the GS-05 Grade Level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples include: Scheduling and coordinating patient appointments using computerized records; Preparing for clinic visits for each business day; Explaining policy/procedures to patients; Preparing correspondence, answering telephones, and referring calls to appropriate receiver. OR Have 4 years of education above the high school level. OR Have a combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for GS-05 grade level. For the GS-06 Grade Level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples include: Scheduling appointments and capturing patient demographics in multiple systems; Performing a variety of receptionist, clerical, and record-keeping duties; Receiving and greeting visitors and telephone callers; Determining the nature of the call or visit and providing detailed information to individuals; Referring patients with perceived emergencies to proper clinic. TYPING PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENT: In addition to meeting the experience requirements, applicants for these positions must show possession of the following typing skill. Applicants may meet these requirements by passing the appropriate performance test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates by the Office of Personnel Management local office, or by self-certifying their proficiency. Performance test results and certificates of proficiency are acceptable for 3 years. Agencies may verify proficiency skills of self-certified applicants by administering the appropriate performance test. Must be able to type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors. Time In Grade: Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
