About the Position: This position is located at Ft. Novosel, Alabama, home of the United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence. Fort Novosel is located in the "Wiregrass" area in Southeast Alabama, surrounded by Enterprise, Ozark and Daleville. The geography and climate are ideal for year round military training. Recreation activities are abundant in the immediate and surrounding areas for family and fun.

Duties

Perform IT system administration to ensure optimal functioning of workstations and servers. Monitor and analyze system performance and corrects deficiencies. Perform overarching and recurring IT coordination, tracking, and reporting functions. Coordinate and track the execution of all IT-related taskings and orders. Provide highly technical IT customer support to all directorate personnel. Responsible for common use IT, automation and collaboration. Assist subordinate directorate IT personnel with user access to the internet/intranet, email, websites, knowledge portals, cloud storage and collaboration, VTC/SVTC, JWICS and chat.

Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position requires the incumbent to work on an on-call basis. Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime, and carry a Mobile Cellular device.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Courier card.
  • This position MAY require the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain a Contracting Officer Representative training certificate within 6 months from date of appointment.
  • Incumbent is required to complete the appropriate training and obtain the required certification/recertification for this position as outlined in DoD Publication 8570.01-M Information Assurance Work force Improvement Program, dated 19 December 2005.
  • Incumbent is required to obtain Security+, Linux Sys Admin and Windows 10 certifications within 24 months of entrance of duty.
  • This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year term/probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Basic Requirement for IT Specialist (Systems Administration/Customer Support): Specialized and Other Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: install hardware, software, operating systems and other IT equipment; troubleshoot user issues to resolve connectivity problems and; develop requirements for systems to meet organization requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined: (1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: completing thorough and accurate work independently, even in the most difficult or stressful situations; occasionally reviewing work completed by others.
