You will serve as a Wood Worker Leader of NAVSUP FLT LOGISTICS CNTR JACKSONVILLE.
Duties
You will construct wooden parts, dunnage, or sections used to encase items in containers or hold boxes in place.
You will measure and cut lumber for non-standard, skidded, trussed, and other required items.
You will adhere to all safety rules and regulations, including ensuring the proper packaging of Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT), classified materials, and sensitive shipments.
You will assemble boxes, crates, and platforms by joining, nailing, screwing bolting and/or applying metal strapping.
You will build decking and cribbing to support, stiffen or separate heavy or bulky freight loads.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States drivers license and/or government vehicle operator permit.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current forklift certification/license.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE
A. I have the ability to independently perform the most difficult and complex tasks as an expert or have been consulted by other employees in difficult situations performing duties including: 1) Working knowledge of a wide range of packing containers, cushioning materials, and woodworking methods and techniques; 2) Performing work relative to the shipment of material and equipment, including receipt, material validation/review, woodworking, packing, preservation, and documents preparation; 3) Receiving and checking incoming material and validating against shipping document to ensure correctness of item and quality; 4) Planning, constructing, and repairing a variety of supply, shipping, and storage containers or similar items; 5) Assembling boxes, crates, and platforms by joining nailing, screwing, bolting and/or applying metal scrapping; 6) Demonstrating proper work methods and techniques, ensuring required materials and tools are available, and checking work in progress for compliance with established procedures, methods, and deadlines; 7) Providing on-the-job training to employees and answering questions regarding work procedures, instructions, or directions; and 8) Reading and interpreting packing manuals and regulations to determine the materials and methods required for the work in consideration of size, type, weight, fragility, mode of transportation and destination of item, as well as the difference between heat treated and non-heat treated lumber.
B. I have the ability to perform the full range of tasks on my own initiative including: 1) Working knowledge of a wide range of packing containers, cushioning materials, and woodworking methods and techniques; 2) Performing work relative to the shipment of material and equipment, including receipt, material validation/review, woodworking, packing, preservation, and documents preparation; 3) Planning, constructing, and repairing a variety of supply, shipping, and storage containers or similar items; 4) Assembling boxes, crates, and platforms by joining nailing, screwing, bolting and/or applying metal scrapping; 5) Demonstrating proper work methods and techniques, ensuring required materials and tools are available, and checking work in progress for compliance with established procedures, methods, and deadlines; 6) Providing on-the-job training to employees and answering questions regarding work procedures, instructions, or directions; and 7) Reading and interpreting packing manuals and regulations to determine the materials and methods required for the work in consideration of size, type, weight, fragility, mode of transportation and destination of item, as well as the difference between heat treated and non-heat treated lumber.
C. I have the ability to perform common tasks under general supervision including: 1) Working knowledge of a wide range of packing containers, cushioning materials, and woodworking methods and techniques; 2) Performing work relative to the shipment of material and equipment, including receipt, material validation/review, woodworking, packing, preservation, and documents preparation; 3) Planning, constructing, and repairing a variety of supply, shipping, and storage containers or similar items; 4) Assembling boxes, crates, and platforms by joining nailing, screwing, bolting and/or applying metal scrapping; 5) Demonstrating proper work methods and techniques, ensuring required materials and tools are available, and checking work in progress for compliance with established procedures, methods, and deadlines; and 6) Reading and interpreting packing manuals and regulations to determine the materials and methods required for assigned project.
