These positions are located in Region 6, within Oregon and Washington States. The incumbent serves as a Program Support Specialist and will be responsible for the administrative support program to the Forest Supervisor and Deputy Forest Supervisor. Duties

Responsibilities listed below are at the full performance level of GS-09. Analyzes, plans, and implements new methods for coordinating the administrative work of a complex organization. Advises Forest Supervisor and Deputy Forest Supervisor of important issues that develop during their absence. Apply analytical and evaluative techniques to identify and address administrative or operational procedural problems. Handles all travel logistics and travel itinerary for both and ensures they have all necessary briefing and logistical material in advance of travel. Navigates the various subordinate levels of hierarchy and differing technical functions to determine who should handle complicated inquiries from telephone callers and personal visitors. Manages the correspondence process for the office, ensuring accurate and timely signing and distribution, and coordination of correspondence with the Regional Office and Washington Office. Schedule meetings and make arrangements such as preparing agendas, notifying participants and reserving conference space. Knowledge of administrative practices, develops, and implements procedures designed to improve Forest Leadership Team administrative effectiveness, automating and streamlining procedures.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the eligibility and qualifications requirements as defined below by the closing date of the announcement. Provide course descriptions as necessary. Specialized Experience Requirement: For the GS-7 level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 grade level. Qualifying specialized experience includes meeting one or more of the following: Performed as an office assistant managing the activities, correspondence, visitors, and inquiries directed to the organization's management staff; Provided administrative support to a unit for a variety of functions such as human resources, budget, procurement, records management, etc. that required interpreting regulations, collecting and analyzing information, and coordinating with other staff as needed; Prepared, reviewed and edited drafts of written correspondence, presentations, reports and similar products; Utilized a range of automated systems to carry out administrative functions on behalf of the management staff, e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, emails, scheduling, travel and/or other comparable software and systems. OR One full year of graduate level education in Business Administration; OR An appropriate combination of graduate level education and specialized experience; OR Superior Academic Achievement (go to this site determine if you are eligible: http://www.opm.gov/qualifications/policy/ApplicationOfStds-04.asp). The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. For the GS-9 level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 grade level. Qualifying specialized experience includes meeting one or more of the following: Operated as an organization's office manager or executive assistant for employees and staff; Managed office visitors and inquiries; Maintained appointment schedules by planning and scheduling meetings, conferences, teleconferences, and travel; Managed the correspondence process for the office by evaluation of content, proofreading and ensuring timely signing of correspondence; Scheduled meetings and made arrangements such as: room reservations, notifying meeting participants of specific information, created agendas and recorded, finalized and distributed accurate notes. OR A master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related; OR An appropriate combination of specialized experience and education (only graduate education in excess of 18 semester hours may be used to qualify applicants for this grade level). The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Work Experience: Your resume must clearly document the following for each block of work experience; the beginning day, month and year the work assignment started and ended; the hours worked per week; position title, and series and grade if applicable; and description of duties performed. This information must be provided for each permanent, temporary, or seasonal appointment/work assignment or volunteer work and should be clearly documented as a separate block of time. TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
