This position provides support to the Administrative Officer (AO), Chief Medical Officer (CMO), and Nurse Manager for the Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System outpatient clinic in Harlingen, TX. The incumbent is assigned under the supervision of the Administrative Officer in support of all functions related to the day to day operations of the clinic.
Duties
*** Bargaining Position ***You will serve as an expert resource for matters related to the administrative functions of the Outpatient Clinic; data entry into tracking systems; reports summarizing findings from the tracking systems to be submitted internally and externally to the Clinic CMO, AO and Nurse Manager VISN 17, and VACO; preparation of correspondence to internal and external customers, coordinating meetings, composing and distributing minutes; and typing and distribution of guidelines relating to the Outpatient Clinic.

Proficiency Requirements: In addition to meeting experience or education requirements, applicants for these positions must show possession of the following skills, as appropriate. Applicants may meet these requirements by passing the appropriate performance test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates by the Office of Personnel Management local office, or by self-certifying their proficiency. Performance test results and certificates of proficiency are acceptable for 3 years. Agencies may verify proficiency skills of self-certified applicants by administering the appropriate performance test.

GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: experience using automated software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); medical terminology; data entry into tracking systems; reports summarizing findings from tracking systems to be submitted internally and externally; prepare in final format memoranda, letters, meeting notes, and other documents; maintain files and suspense; coordinate meetings; maintain calendars/schedules; receive/route mail and telephone calls; travel preparation; timekeeping; and maintains supplies and equipment.
There is no educational substitution for the GS-06 level.

Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Some work may require movement between offices, hospitals, warehouses, and similar areas for meetings and to conduct work. Work may also require walking/standing, in conjunctions with travel to and attendance at meetings and/or conferences away from the work site. Incumbent may carry and lift light items weighing less than 15 pounds.
