The Office of Information Technology provides IT infrastructure for all network services and systems hosted within the Division including the planning, analysis, design, testing, configuration, deployment, maintenance, and support of desktop computer hardware, all network hardware and services, and software and images. The incumbent serves as the Information Security and Enterprise Architect to ensure that current/future IT Infrastructure are defended against emerging cybersecurity threats.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Leads the operation and maintenance of Division servers and asset in the current DOJ private cloud infrastructure to defend against emerging cybersecurity threats. Coordinates the implementation of security programs across platforms (cloud servers, client laptops, mobile devices). Leads the implementation of Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) Tools and Processes to defend against emerging cybersecurity threats. Leads implementation of zero-trust architecture tools such as Okta and Zscaler. Oversees the engineering, implementation, and support of data connections to the Department of Justice unclassified networks, DOJ's enterprise wide-area network and VPN services, and other external wide area network connections from outside entities to defend against emerging cybersecurity threats. Reviews proposed new systems, networks, and software designs for potential security risks. Serves as the IT Specialist and Enterprise Architect for the Division's computer, storage and network infrastructure. Serves as the Division's expert in the architecture, development, implementation, and support of networks and IT Enterprise Infrastructure. Maintains the network architecture and infrastructure including configuring, implementing, and optimizing routers, switches, firewalls, VPN devices, intrusion detection/prevention systems, wireless controllers, and network management servers across multiple networks. Diagnoses network problems and performing corrective action to resolve network/performance issues by utilizing network management systems/tools at local and geographically dispersed locations across the enterprise. Leads the design, development, automation, and integration of cloud-based systems and applications, taking into consideration aspects such as continuity of operations, security, logging/monitoring, and capacity planning. Provides strategic direction and technical oversight pertaining to the implementation of new tools, technologies, solutions, and methodologies.

Qualifications

To qualify for GS-14, you must meet A and B below: A) You must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. B) You must have one year of specialized experience at, or equivalent to, the GS-13 Federal grade level or above (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Examples of specialized experience include: experience managing enterprise networks, advising on and making recommendations on technical solutions to resolve system vulnerabilities; experience mitigating vulnerabilities and breaches in information systems and using IT tools and products to protect and maintain the availability, integrity and confidentiality of information systems. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skill and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time in Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements (one year at the next lower grade) by the closing date of announcement.
