You will serve as a MAINTENANCE WORKER in the Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Hawaii, Utilities, Wastewater Branch of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND HAWAII.

Duties

You will periodically inspect machinery and equipment to locate sources of defective operation that might lead to breakdown. You will replace various types of pumps, valves, hydraulic cylinders, conveyors, gas driven engines, gears, motors, wheel bearings, and other related components. You will make operational adjustments, preventive maintenance (PM), and corrective maintenance, realignment of motors, gears wheels, shafts, bearings, and similar parts. You will adjust tensions on belts, resets cams, gear ratios, and align equipment. You will select tools, decide on methods and techniques to use and carries out work with little instruction. You will troubleshoot and diagnose problem sources, determine the complexity of repair required, the specific components requiring replacements, and the amount of time to complete the repair. You will participate in the site safety program and follow all safety SOP's, guidelines and directives. You will operate motor vehicles for purposes of transporting personnel, equipment, and/or materials.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver?s license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current CDL license type "B" with Endorsement N.

Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION: 1) Working from simple plans, sketches and detailed specifications. 2) Completing routine task and adhering to instructions and accepted trade practices. 3) Determining the proper standardized methods; techniques and procedures required and complete assignments. 4) Having general knowledge of basic electricity.
