This position is located in the Executive Office of the President (EOP), Office of the Director of Technology (OD/WHIT), Data Security Office (DS). The incumbent is responsible for monitoring and safeguarding information technology solutions for EOP, including but not limited to data protection, Multi-factor Authentication (MFA), auditing of electronically stored information (ESI), cloud applications, and executive dashboards.
Duties
As a IT Cybersecurity Specialist (INFOSEC), GS-2210-9/11, your typical work assignments may include the following:
- Safeguards EOP information from compromise, exploitation, and unauthorized disclosure by detecting, investigating, and reporting violations of Presidential Information Technology Community (PITC) policies.
- Monitors and evaluates activities on PITC/EOP devices and systems for indications of possible policy violations by EOP personnel.
- Monitors access to sensitive, confidential, or other high-security data coordinating and executing in-person Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) engagements as well as managing the Data Security platform.
- Participates in the development and maintains security policies and designs procedures to secure data and metadata associated with the EOP.
- Ensures that an appropriate data classification schema exists to allow for the tracking of sensitive information.
- Provides Data Security program guidance and support to all levels of management.
- Conducts investigations, analysis, inquiries, and assistance visits to identify security problems or concerns, and the associated solutions to correct the identified problems or concerns.
- Prepares reports and develops recommendation for corrective action. Maintains and tracks recommendations to closure.
- Develops and implements application workflows within and between technical systems to advance the capabilities of data protection, organization, and introducing efficiencies in daily work flows by reducing manual processing requirements.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS All applicants must meet the qualification requirements outlined below to be considered minimally qualified for this position. The qualification requirements are in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standards.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria listed below in order to meet the basic requirement for IT Cybersecurity Specialist (INFOSEC), 2210. Experience must be IT-related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

In addition to meeting the Basic Requirement above, applicants must also meet the Minimum Qualifications requirement below.

TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level or pay band in Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have a minimum of one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility comparable to the next lower grade or comparable pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector.
You may qualify at the GS-9 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector that demonstrates: 1-Applying basic security principles, practices, and procedures in the administration of an information security program. 2-Assisting in identifying need for changes based on new security technologies or threats. 3-Assisting in the production of communication materials for cybersecurity information sharing. 4-Understanding of the basic assessment's software and technical writing.

A master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience. (Combinations of successfully completed education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the grade levels above. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify for that grade level. Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify applicants for positions at GS-9.)
You may qualify at the GS-11 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector that demonstrates: 1-Monitoring and providing data protection and response though security event analysis and collate relevant events from host and network device log files. 2-Identifying and incorporating security controls into on-premise/cloud information systems to safeguard data from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, destruction, modification or disruption to access. 3-Conducting security audits, risk assessments, and analysis to provide management/leadership with risk assessment summaries and security briefings.

A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.
