About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position serves as the Department of Defense Intelligence Information System Security Officer (DODIIS ISSO) for U. S. Army Aviation Missile Command/Redstone Arsenal.
Duties
Provide expertise required for the day-to-day security operations of the IIS, which may include elements of physical security, information security, personnel security, incident handling, and security awareness and training.
Organizational subject matter expert on cyber security and information system security as it relates to NIPRNET and SIPRNET systems.
Principal advisor on all matters involving the security of the intelligence information system (IIS).
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance based on a T5 (or equivalent level) investigation with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
- In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment. Please see Additional Information section for more information.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain information assurance management (IAM) Level 1 certification, prescribed in DoD 8570.01, in accordance to which the incumbent must hold at least the following baseline certification: Security+ CE.

Experience implementing instructions and procedures that specify risk management/accreditation methodology to effect cyber security techniques at the site/activity level. and
Experience presenting, defending, and justifying compliance inspection findings and conclusions orally and in writing.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-11).
Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
