Duties

Maintains and cultivates contacts with internal and external stakeholders. External may be with Congressional staff, Federal, state, and local officials, media, Foreign government Officials, student groups and the public on routine matters that relates to the professional or technical occupation being supported. Internal contacts are with Commissioner offices, managers and s staff to share information, coordinate efforts, and discuss the statuses of assignments.
Assist public and stakeholders with questions regarding the organization's mission and operations; serve as the ER POC/Liaison for various systems, programs and units; and perform the role of quality assurance manager, as needed.
Prepares news releases, public information documents, web articles and other content to convey information and clarify organizational operations, programs, and activities;
Analyzes new or proposed legislation or regulations to determine impact on program operations and management.
Provides administrative management support for a combination of routine and varied assignments in support of a professional, technical, or specialized occupation under the limited direction of a manager including time and attendance administration, labor distribution reporting, purchasing, correspondence control/filing, records management, travel arrangements, maintaining office specific web resources and calendars, telephone support and providing overall office management support.
Participates in agency-wide activities that conduct in-depth analytical studies and carries out projects and analyzes project data, requirements and impact to identify problem areas and determine how to resolve substantive problems or improve effectiveness and efficiency of programs.
Establishes and maintains a system to review, control, and report on the status of projects. Prepares proposed directives, memoranda, policy statements and other written guidelines and recommendations.
Performs extensive operational review and prepares comprehensive program analyses to evaluate the effectiveness of program operations, including the provision of legal advice on trade and other issues and the conduct of litigation, in meeting established goals and objectives.

BASIC REQUIREMENT
To qualify at the GS-12 level, you must have one-year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 obtained in the federal or private sector which demonstrates all of the following:
assisting with arrangements for hearings and meetings and drafting pertinent documents necessary to conduct Commission hearings and votes
preparing a variety of written material including reports, records, briefing materials, and statistical and narrative material,
providing customer service to visitors to the Commission and handling sensitive documents that contain NSI
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through national service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
