About the Position: Position may be filled as a temporary promotion or detail NTE 1 year by a current permanent Army Employee. Temporary promotions or details may be extended up to a maximum of five years and may be made permanent without further competition.
Duties
Select and operate a variety of test equipment such as analyzers, oscilloscopes, meters, and other common and specialized test equipment required to perform the assigned duties.
Perform repair, overhaul, modification, installation and turn-on and test of complex electronic equipment and complete electronic systems.
Check work in progress and when finished, checks for compliance with supervisors' instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines.
Advise other employees to follow supervisors' instructions and to meet deadlines.
Ensure that needed plans, blueprints, material, and tools are available.
Troubleshoot, isolate, and repair operational malfunctions in complex electronic equipment and systems.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. You must successfully complete and pass a NATIONAL AGENCY CHECK WITH WRITTEN INQUIRIES (NACI, Tier 1).
- Successfully complete and pass pre-employment and annual physicals.
- Shift work and overtime may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays, and weekends in support of related mission requirements.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electronics Mechanic Leader without more than normal supervision by performing common tasks of an Electronics Mechanic Leader tasks to include: 1) obtaining needed information or decisions from supervisors on problems that arise, 2) ensuring needed tools and material are available and work along with others setting the pace and 3) demonstrating proper work methods and techniques related to the overhaul and repair of electronic components and related devices. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work involves frequent standing, stooping, climbing, bending, and kneeling and occasionally in cramped and awkward positions within shelters or vans. Required to lift and handle objects weighing up to 40 pounds: often lifts and moves heavier units, with the assistance of other workers, lifting devices with aids such as movable tables or jacks.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is usually performed inside well lighted, adequately heated and ventilated areas. Occasionally works outside in inclement weather and when on TDY assignments. Subject to cuts, bruises, scrapes, sprains, and strains from handling tools and installing equipment. Subject to burns from hot components, RF energy, micro-wave radiation, and electrical shock. Required to wear safety clothing and equipment appropriate for the position.
