Position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration.Serve as Director of Records Center Operations with responsibility for ensuring timely performance of a satisfactory amount and quality of work;evaluating performance of subordinates;planning work goals to be accomplished by subordinates;assigning work;interviewing candidates for positions on the staff and making recommendations involving positions;identifying developmental and training needs, and resolving complaints.
Duties
As a Supervisory Archives Specialist, you will:
In coordination with the Regional Administrator/Assistant Regional Administrator Director of Operations, plan and direct records center operations within the Region, including storing, servicing, and disposing of records from Federal agencies in the Region's Center's geographic area and in some cases from agencies outside the Region's geographic area.
Together with the Office of Chief Records, advise Federal agencies on methods to secure maximum benefits through the use of records center services. This includes on-site assessments of agencies' records to conduct feasibility studies for microfilming digital conversion, determining which records may be discarded or must be retained, and/or to provide a "cost analysis" regarding effectiveness of agency retention or transfer of records to a records center.
Develop and implement changes in procedures, methods, and techniques for identifying, arranging, screening, and describing records in center custody
Serve as a team leader or member of project teams responsible for records management, archival administration, and/or records center operations, and public programs.
Assist the Regional Administrator/Assistant Regional Administrator and the Regional Facility Director Field Support Officer in managing the facility.

Specialized experience at the GS-13 level: For the GS-13, specialized experience is defined as one year of experience at the GS-12 level, or equivalent that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position includes experience:
Leading projects or teams to obtain information and provide recommendations to senior leaders or other interested parties.;
AND
- Managerial experience managing agency staff.
AND
- Analyzing, evaluating or developing formal policies and procedures related to reimbursable records management and services.;
AND
- Has developed methods, organizational structures, or management processes to better service both internal and external customers.
Specialized experience at the GS-12 level: For the GS-12, specialized experience is defined as one year of experience at the GS-11 level, or equivalent that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position includes experience:
- Managerial experience managing agency staff.
AND
- Analyzing, evaluating or developing formal policies and procedures related to reimbursable records management and services.;
AND
- Has developed methods, organizational structures, or management processes to better service both internal and external customers.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable (as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F):
For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks.
For the GS-12, you must have been at the GS-11 level for 52 weeks.
