About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. You may need to complete a 3 year probationary period, if applicable. This position is with 7th Signal Command, 21st Signal Brigade, 302nd Signal Battalion, located at Fort Meade, Maryland

Duties

Responsible for assigning the activation, change, and deactivation of trunks and circuits IAW Telecommunication Service Orders (TSOs) or as directed by higher echelons. Review Request for Services (RFSs), Technical Service Requests (TSRs) and TSOs and closely coordinates the circuit installations with station circuit activations personnel. Continuously monitor actions underway until problems are resolved. Direct and oversee the administrative, operations and maintenance functions associated with mission support. Coordinate with customers and external agencies on scheduling, alternate paths, and restoral services for data services. Evaluate work performance and submit evaluations to supervisor. Perform circuit activation and installation to satisfy circuit requirements. Conduct Quality Assurance/Quality Control on all DISA and external equipment installations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access for the duration of employment.
  • Employee shifts may be rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • This position requires irregular hours on rotating shifts and on-call. Overtime may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays and weekends in support of related mission requirements.

Specialized experience would be demonstrated by knowledge and experience with satellite earth terminal antennas, SATCOM baseband systems, MET terminals, testing and diagnostic equipment; knowledge and experience with the operations and functions of complex electronic equipment and systems, e.g., satellite communications systems, modems, frequency converters, and amplifiers; knowledge of NETCOM and Defense Information System Agency policies and possess the ability to apply these policies and practices to define, coordinate, plan and satisfy user requirements for telecommunications equipment, systems, or services; and the ability to recommend methods for enhancing efficiency of telecommunication systems through modifications and applications of evolving technology.
