This position is located at United States Mint, Washington, DC Office of the Director/Chief Administrative Officer/Information Technology Department, Information Security Division. As an Information Technology (IT) Specialist (INFOSECEC), you will be maintaining a robust array of policies and processes that increase the United States Mint's return on its technology investments and strengthens its IT structure and performance.
Duties
As a/an Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC), you will:
Direct and manage information resources, including achieving and sustaining a fully integrated, manageable, and secure enterprise architecture serving the United States Mint headquarters in Washington DC as well as United States Mints' at Philadelphia, West Point, Denver, San Francisco, and United States Bullion Depository at Fort Knox. ITD maintains a robust array of policies and processes that increase the United States Mint's return on its technology investments and strengths its IT structure and performance.
Develop and/or analyze United States Mint information system security plans and other system documentation that are in conformance with National Institute of Standards and Technology 800 Special Publication series for authorization and reauthorization packages supporting the authority to operate United States Mint information systems, and applications for regulatory compliance, and adherence to security best practices.
Utilize technical expertise of computer security theories, principles, practices, and functional tools for a broad range of computer security related areas, including certification and accreditation of government information and telecommunications systems, IT disaster recovery and business continuity planning, and risk management for the United States Mint's The incumbent reviews completed work of other government and/or contractor personnel for effectiveness in meeting objectives, accuracy, regulatory compliance, and adherence to security best practices.
Communicate complex technical requirements to non-technical personnel; and prepare briefings for senior management officials on complex controversial issues. Documents complex system architectures and produce related security authorization documents. technical requirements requiring application of oral and written communication skills and techniques.
Develop and implement new approaches and procedures regarding security measures for compliance with regulations. Apply new developments and emerging technologies in the IT security; and make decisions or recommendations that significantly influence critical IT policies or programs. Meets and deals with all levels of management within ITD and other organization's and with employees and their groups.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
- Serving as a technical expert in the development of IT security-related policy, standards, plans, and processes; AND
- Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure security features are incorporated into current and future applications, systems, and architecture; AND
- Providing technical and authoritative guidance to leadership and program users on emergent technology and security issues involving business operations; AND
- Ensuring the efficient and secure operation of agency IT systems; AND
- Implementing the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Risk Management Framework.
For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
- Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure security features are incorporated into current and future applications, systems, and architecture; AND
- Ensuring the efficient and secure operation of agency IT systems; AND
- Implementing the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Risk Management Framework.
In addition to specialized experience, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.1.
