About the Position: The person in this position will serve as the Medical Department Activity MEDDAC Credentials Program Specialist for Medical Treatment Facility (MTF.) The person will assist the Chief of Clinical Staff Services (Credentials) in developing short and long-term goals necessary to accomplish the mission of the credentialing and privileging program.

Duties

Serve as an authoritative source and assistant to the Commander, Chairperson of Credentials Committee, and supervisor on the clinical privileging requirements, regulations, policies, and procedures for the Provider Credentials/Privileging Program. Verify providers credential documentation, to include diplomas, licenses, certification, medical specialty training, board certification, continuing medical education credits, etc. according to policies, regulations, and laws. Prepare and maintain a Provider Activity File (PAF) for each privileged provider. Confirm all privileged providers maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and specific privileged providers (i.e. Emergency Medical Service) maintain current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. Utilize a wide variety of software packages, for spreadsheets, graphs, briefing slides and general documents. Presents briefings/training to small groups within the department. Research and abstract active and inactive provider files in response to a variety of requests for information on providers privileged by this facility.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Health Care Management or Health Care Administration (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.). OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) GS-09 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing an automated data processing system to accomplish a wide range of statistical and data entry/retrieval tasks in support of administrative work; verifying and/or researching background information for clinical staff privileges; verifying customers and/or applicants records and/files regarding credentialing and/privileging requirements for job positions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Health Care Management or Health Care Administration (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.). OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementCommunicationsCustomer ServicePlanning and EvaluatingResearch and Data Analysis GS-07 Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05). GS-09 Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07). Position is a GS-07 level with promotion potential to the GS-09. The position may be filled at either level GS-7 or GS-09. If selected at the GS-07 level; noncompetitive promotion to the next grade level is authorized; pending time in grade requirements and demonstrated ability to perform at the next higher level grade duties.
