Duties

This position require military membership in the Puerto Rico Army National Guard (PRARNG) Selected applicant(s) will be required to complete an online Onboarding process.

Requirements

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.

  • Individual selected for this position who is not qualified in one of the mentioned MOS, MUST submit to HRO, before date of appointment, the correct military paperwork/application to attend the technical training school required to be MOS Qualified.
  • If selectee fails to process the school application and does not successfully graduate from the school, he/she will be terminated from the technician program for failure to meet the compatibility standards and receive a 30 day's notice of separation.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

Qualifications

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: This position requires military membership in the Puerto Rico Army National Guard (PRARNG). If you are not a military member of the PRARNG (i.e., Airman, civilian, active-duty Soldier, prior service, guard member from another state, reservist, IRR, State Guard, etc.), you must contact the Recruiting and Retention (R&R) Office at (787) 289-1400 extension 2015 or 2008 and request the PRARNG Military Basic Requirements (MBR) Certification. If the MBR certification is not submitted, or you do not meet the requirements to be a member of the PRARNG, your application will not be screened. AREA OF CONSIDERATION: HRO MUST process and clear the Department of Defense (DoD), Priority Placement Program (PPP), prior to advertising all internal and external job vacancies and promotion announcements. Area 1 = All permanent Officers, Warrant Officers and Enlisted members employees (NG T32/NG T5) within Puerto Rico Army National Guard. DUTIES: As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST (D1254000), GS-1601-9, you will analyze and evaluate maintenance operations, production, and procedures; and make recommendations for improvement. This requires practical knowledge of, and skill in applying, principles, concepts, and methods of surface maintenance equipment, facilities, and service operations. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is primarily sedentary although some slight physical effort may be required. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work is typically performed in an adequately lighted and climate-controlled office. May require occasional travel. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must possess at least TWELVE (12) months at the next lower grade level GS-07 or the equivalent TWENTY-FOUR (24) months of specialized experience such as Analyzes and resolves a variety of conventional maintenance management problems to improve existing maintenance operations; analyzes the effectiveness and efficiency of maintenance management, repair, and training; coordinates with others to resolve conflicts affecting maintenance production; develop, analyze, evaluate, advise on, and/or improve maintenance management production, operations and/or procedures; analyzes maintenance capabilities, production effectiveness, equipment reliability, and determines deficient areas and trends; preparing budgets based on plans for maintenance repair work, new construction, alteration projects, replacement of existing equipment, or increases in services; developing administrative regulations, criteria to measure and predict the attainment of organizational goals and objectives.

Education

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in fields listed below leading to a bachelor's degree, in an accredited college or university, (30 semester's hours or 20 classroom hours of instruction per week) for 6 months of specialized experience. Courses must be directly related to the work of the position.

EDUCATION:
Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.
