You will serve as a QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (SHIPBUILDING) in the QUALITY ASSURANCE DEPARTMENT of SUPSHIP GULF COAST.
Duties
You will plan, coordinate, and implement activity and department quality functions in the disciplines of shipbuilding, but not limited to Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical/Combat systems, weight handling equipment, fueling at sea, ventilation, etc.
You will prepare and implement audit plans and schedules for contractor's and activity evaluation to determine the degree of conformance.
You will prepare Management Information System reports for all quality functions.
You will analyze and determine the adequacy of Contractor inspection and quality programs.
You will inspect areas where the Contractor inspection system is suspected of being inadequate and make recommendations for remedial action.
You will function as a member of the simulated INSURV Board during builder's trials.
You will function as a Quality Assurance Representative for new construction, restricted availability, repair or regular overhaul of ships by local contractors and as SUPSHIP (Supervisor Shipbuilding) Representative on site at remote facilities.
You will provide inputs to the contractor's and SUPSHIP corrective action programs by initiating Corrective Action Requests (CARS) and follow up to determine corrective active adequacy.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current VT Level II or CWI Certification, and NBPI or NACE equivalent certification.
- You will be required to perform occasional sea duty.
Qualifications
For the GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Conducting quality assurance functions for ship building programs (e.g., related to Hull, Mechanical, Electrical Systems inspection; inspection of contractor programs; Interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications; NDI testing) to identify problems and provide recommendations for corrective action.
For the GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Assisting with quality assurance inspections for shipbuilding programs (e.g. related to ship fitting, hull fabrication, weight handling systems and equipment, fueling at sea and replenishment at sea equipment and systems, outfitting, ventilation) to ensure compliance with procedural standards.

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree with major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or another field related to the position

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
OR
An LL.M., if related to the position being filled.
Education may be substituted for specialized experience as follows for GS-9:
Master's or equivalent graduate degree with major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or another field related to the position
OR
Completion of 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
OR
An LL.B. or J.D., if related to the position being filled.
